No, I won’t put down the beer, that’s what made Ricky Gervais famous!… I really wasn’t aware of this Freescale Semiconductor effort to identify leading smart mobile device pundits until getting the note from Dustin at Lois Paul & Partners (which meant I couldn’t have stuffed the ballot box, so stop the catcalls) …. No, that story about being in the shower at the time was not true, though I was watching the Tiger Woods feed and felt as though I needed a shower.
In all seriousness, this award belongs equally to Gordon Kelly and Lisa DiCarlo of Smartbook Blog, who consistently come up with intriguing material that wouldn’t have landed on my radar screen. This blog is a joint effort, and I’m merely a stand-in for a triumvirate of anointed pundits.
All kudos to Kira and the Qualcomm staff supporting Smartbook Blog, for realizing that one has to honestly assess competitors in the ARM community, in alternative chip architectures, in vendors of netbooks and smartphones and tablets, oh my, and in those operating systems that might actually give Chrome and Android a run for their money. Yeah, Steve Ballmer, I’m talkin’ to you, big guy! C’mere and finish the dregs of this 1554 ale!
This blog would never have seen the light of day without the shepherding of Loomis Group, though I’m sure the academy will gong me before I can mention Lisa, Russ, Abi, Jei, and all of you wkno know durned well who you are.
Finally, to members of the i.MX Academy, does this recognition come with any bright and shiny objects? Yeah, I know 2010 is a recessionary year, and I shouldn’t expect any little statuettes. I was thinking of maybe a badge with gold foil, something that said “Official Pundit”, so I could stand beside Glenn Beck and Rachel Maddow with all due pride.
