It may not get any more tenuous than this, but details of the first netbook to ship with Intel’s next generation Atom processor have emerged.
The Register has spotted the unannounced Acer ‘Aspire One 532h’ on the company’s support site. Little is strange here since models often slip out this way, but when The Reg googled it they found a Lithuanian reseller (remember the ‘tenuous’ part?) which lists the 532h as sporting an Intel Atom N450 CPU. The N450 is Intel’s next generation ‘Pine Trail’ chip and promises to significantly up performance while also reducing power consumption.
Elsewhere we also learn the 532h will come with a 1280 x 720 pixel 10-in LED backlit display and integrated 3150 graphics. The interesting part here is the higher resolution screen, since this has been largely neglected by netbook makers to date. Whether it signals a change for 2010 or merely a one-off remains to be seen.
Lastly, the reseller quotes a price of 1138.83 Litas ($483/£297) for the 532h which is promising, but given the radically different market doesn’t give us anything too solid. Still, with Intel’s next-gen Atoms due to launch in January, we won’t have long to wait before the confirmations start rolling in…
